Russian Space Imagery – Slightly different from NASA?

Here’s a nice image of the planet earth from a geosynchronous orbit, but unusually it’s from a russian satellite, not some NASA one, and it does look pretty awesome.

As far as I understand it, it’s something to do with visual and infrared spectra being merged into one image, either way it’s rather cool.
