So, I was tearing out the spare bedroom and realised that the little shelf bit in the corner had a bit of hardboard pretending to be a wall – I thought it was something like a structural bit to do with the chimney – so obviously like a good maniac I pulled it off.
Some lazy sod had simply boxed in the antique gas fire instead of removing it.
I had a good look at it, had a good think, and decided I’d just cover it up again…
And that folks is how we end up with antiques and archaeology – if everyone wasn’t lazy we’d have no historical items!
